Cat Caterpillar loves helping Mom Caterpillar sort Bugville’s colorful Valentine mail. But when Cat delivers the cards to B. Havior School, she discovers that one classmate’s pouch is completely empty. Cat wants to help without embarrassing anyone, and she soon realizes that a hurried pity card cannot replace a message that is honest, thoughtful, and true.
With gentle courage, Cat speaks to Mrs. Beeswax and helps the class create appreciation valentines celebrating qualities they may not have noticed before. Warm and emotionally intelligent, the story explores empathy, inclusion, communication, and the difference one observant voice can make.
